about

Places at Night is Jesse Jace Thomas's first solo album, occupying an acoustic/electronic hybrid genre described as "laptop pop" (guitar and vocals over sequenced rhythm tracks). It was recorded and produced in Oshkosh, WI and Minneapolis, MN in 2001 and 2002, and first released via limited consignment in October of 2002. Its American Dodgeball Records part number is ADR-0001.

The song "Aberdeen" received radio play on college stations in Oshkosh and Minneapolis. In 2004, "Monica," "What Baby Wants" and "Next in the Campaign is Mars" received awards from the now-defunct music community Garageband.

All songs by Jesse Jace Thomas except "Sterno" by Sean Manning, Al Sauer, Tim Snow and Jesse Jace Thomas.

The November 2013 re-release includes all fifteen original tracks, along with a five-page PDF containing square versions of the original cover and liner art.

I started out sequencing game music covers with my father's MIDI equipment, then graduated to writing songs for girls I liked, and now here I am, doing whatever this is.
